Model build nights
A build night is a great way to get together with fellow modellers, share knowledge and talk shop, and of course to make models.
Here in Truro there is a build night held every Monday evening at Malpas Village Hall, a relaxed and friendly oasis for all ages where you can work on your latest projects in like minded company. There will not be any of the usual home distractions to interrupt your work, while tea and coffee is always available. Some regulars say they get more done in an evening at Malpas than in a whole week at home.
Other advantages include the ability both to share and pick up knowledge of your chosen genre. With the combined modelling experience of those present spanning many years, there is always an answer available to any issue or problem with your model. New techniques can be learned and alternative methods can be tried, while the latest releases and products can be discussed and reviewed.
Malpas Village Hall is located on the left hand side of the road into Malpas village, just before the Heron Inn. It is about two miles from Truro’s Trafalgar roundabout, with the postcode TR1 1SQ for your satnav. The hall is open for 7pm, and the evenings wind up at about 10pm. There is a weekly charge of £3 per person for use of the hall, and 25p for tea, coffee and biscuits.
If Malpas is a little too far for you, please note that the Cornish Scale Modellers also run two weekly nights in other parts of the county; on Wednesdays there is a build night at Marazion Community Centre, while on Fridays it is the turn of Illogan Village Hall to host an evening. You can find more details on the CSM website.
And if your club or society operate any similar events please get in touch and I will be happy to add them to this page.
